CPR REFRESHER COURSE HLTAID009 PROVIDE CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This half-day course refreshes your existing skills to perform CPR in an emergency to help save a life.


You will learn what to do if a person is unconscious and not breathing normally. The training follows current Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and focuses on practical, hands-on skills.


In this course, you will learn how to:

  • Check if a person is responsive and breathing
  • Call for help and contact emergency services
  • Perform CPR on adults, children and infants
  • Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Follow safe work practices and infection control
  • Continue CPR until help arrives
     

This training helps you feel confident to act quickly and safely in a life-threatening situation.


WHO THIS COURSE IS FOR

This course is suitable for people who have previosuly completed CPR training and require a refresher course. They will work or volunteer in roles where CPR skills are required, including:

  • Community services
  • Aged care and disability services
  • Health and support services
  • Childcare and education settings
  • Volunteers, carers and support workers
     

SKILLS THAT HELP YOU DO WELL IN THIS COURSE

To be successful in this course, it helps if you:

  • Are willing to practise hands-on skills
  • Can follow instructions and safety guidelines
  • Stay calm under pressure
  • Are physically able to kneel and perform CPR compressions
  • Care about helping others in an emergency
     

No previous experience is required. This course is practical, supportive and designed to build confidence in a short time.

FIRST AID COURSE HLTAID009, HLTAID010 AND HLTAID011


COURSE DESCRIPTION

This one-day course teaches you the essential first aid skills needed to respond to common emergencies at work, at home, or in the community.


You will learn what to do if someone is injured, unwell, unconscious or not breathing. The course includes hands-on practice and follows current Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.


In this course, you will learn how to:

  • Check for danger and assess an emergency situation
  • Provide CPR to adults, children and infants
  • Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Treat common injuries such as cuts, burns, fractures and bleeding
  • Respond to medical emergencies including asthma, anaphylaxis, seizures and shock
  • Manage unconscious casualties and recovery positions
  • Provide first aid until emergency services arrive
     

This training helps you feel confident to act quickly, safely and calmly in an emergency.


UNITS COVERED

This course includes the following nationally recognised units:

  • HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
     

WHO THIS COURSE IS FOR 

This course is suitable for people who work or volunteer in:

  • Community services
  • Aged care and disability services
  • Health and support services
  • Childcare, education and youth services
  • Workplaces where first aid is required
     

It is also suitable for people who need to gain or renew first aid certification.

To be successful in this course, it helps if you:

  • Are willing to practise hands-on first aid skills
  • Can follow instructions and safety procedures
  • Stay calm in emergency situations
  • Are physically able to kneel and perform CPR

No previous experience is required. This is a practical, supportive course designed to build confidence in one day.
